The CNN commissioned poll (by SSRS) heralded on July 1 2019, the week after the first two nights of Dem debates, was portrayed in the main stream media as showing that Biden was losing ground but Harris and Warren were rising in popularity, overtaking Bernie Sanders. These changes were attributed to voter reactions to the debates. However, many people questioned in the poll had not even watched much of the debates but based their views on (biased) media coverage of them.

What the CNN coverage did not mention was that 26% of those questioned in the telephone poll identified as Republicans, and 42% identified as independent or some other party. Only 32% of those questioned identified as Democrats. So for all we know this poll is completely useless as a guide to how Democratic leaning voters are likely to vote in 2020.

The real purpose of the coverage of the poll on CNN is to cherry-pick statistics that favor any corporate candidate whilst misleadingly portraying anyone else (Bernie) as losing popularity.

For instance, regarding democratic or democratic leaning voters registered to vote, Biden and Bernie were most favorable with respondents (72 and 71 % respectively) on the following question:

“We'd like to get your overall opinion of some people in the news. As I read each name, please say if you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of these people - or if you have never heard of them.”

(Warren was at 67% and Harris was at 62% in this category.)

Only 28% of all respondents between the ages of 18 to 34 had a favorable opinion of Kamala Harris.

Also more people (of the total respondents questioned) did not watch much of either debate (36%), compared to people who watched all or most of both debates (29%) or watched all or most of only one debate (14%). Tellingly, the 36% who didn’t watch much of either debate “paid close attention to news stories about them afterwards” - that’s where they got their opinions from: CNN propaganda. The main stream media exist to make a profit and are heavily biased against non-corporate candidates.

Out of the total number of respondents, 49% of people between the ages of 18 - 34 have a favorable view about Joe Biden. However more than two thirds of people questioned were not democrat or democrat inclined voters. In contrast, 56% of total respondents under the age of 34 had a favorable view of Bernie Sanders (30% for Warren, 28% for Harris).

This indicates that Bernie Sanders may be doing much better than the establishment media wants you to believe. 74% of Democratic self-identified responders to the poll had a favorable view of Biden and Bernie (67% for Warren and 63% for Harris).

Remember that when Biden first entered the race, the poll that showed him as front runner was skewed in that it did not represent people under the age of 34.
